Style Analysis
Style...how do you define it? Style is very often confused with fashion, which has been described as the latest and most admired style in clothes; it's something that sets a trend. To me, however, style is much more than that, it is an individual thing, a way of expressing something that is characteristic of a particular person. It can, knowingly or unknowingly, reflect that person as a whole, their lifestyle, confidence and self esteem...style, to me, speaks to those we meet on the street and tells a story about each and every one of us.
'Fashions fade, style is eternal.' - Yves Saint Laurent
Think about it, the last time you met somebody new, what do you automatically do, possibly without even realising you're doing it...you weigh them up, you're looking for tangible clues to give you information about them... Before they even speak you have formed an opinion based entirely on the way they look. In actual fact, research shows that we have just 30 seconds to make that all important first impression. Obviously this isn't the only important aspect of an individual, there are inner qualities needed to back up the appearance, but a positive image will give you a head start in every walk of life, not to mention the confidence that soars with it.
'Only 7% of the first impression we form of someone is based on what they say - the other 93% is based on non-verbal cues, principally appearance.' - Albert Mehrabian
How often do you go shopping and end up buying something, despite the fact that there's 'something not quite right with it', but you buy it anyway...you wear it once, then it sits in the back of the wardrobe because it still 'didn't feel quite right' but you don't know why... time and money wasted once again.
It is my job to help you understand how not to make these mistakes and to SAVE money, I can't bear waste! None of us have the money to throw away on expensive, or even inexpensive mistakes come to that, we need to understand how to make our wardrobes work for us and our hard-earned cash.
We each have a different body structure and this affects how different shaped clothing hangs on you. A Style Analysis will help us identify your unique body structure, scale and proportions. It isn't just about physical shape and colour, however; unlike many of the TV make-over programmes that we have seen over the years that push people into totally inappropriate clothing, I complete a personality and lifestyle analysis which helps to ensure that my recommendations reflect you as an individual and fit into your lifestyle. It is pointless trying to get you into a classic suit, if your day-to-day activities are informal and you have young children; however, upgrading your look from joggy bottoms to relaxed casual could be a good investment. Who you are and how you live are key elements to building a wardrobe that will always work for you, and harmony between your clothes, bodyline and lifestyle, in addition to knowing how to enhance your best points and disguise those you are not so happy with, are also crucial elements to factor in.
